Punditrao Dharenavar, assistant professor, department of Sociology, PGGC, 46 Chandigarh asking all the singers to apologize to Punjabi language and culture for singing Vulgar, alcoholic and weaponry songs in Punjabi language failing which he will take legal action on 18th November 2017 in front of Patiala Bus stand, Punjab. It is historic to note that Punditrao Dharenavar later flied Public Interest Litigation on 19/12/2016 in Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court. The hearing went on for three years and finally on 22/7/2019 Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered to DGP Punjab. Haryana and Chandigarh "to ensure that no songs are played glorifying the liquor, wine, drugs and violence in any song even in live shows” .. The Honorable Court’s observation is tight slap on those who used to claim that such songs do not have any effect on society whereas Honorable Court observed clearly that “These songs affect the children of impressionable age”
